Please join us in Long Beach Housing Justice Institute on August 5th. Please read the goals and activities of the day below.
The goals of the day are to: 1) Encourage a group of faith leaders to emerge to advocate for housing justice. 2) Learn best practices to end homelessness, 3) Utilizing religious land for supportive and affordable housing. To help achieve these goals, the One-Day Institute will provide an overview of our own housing stories, God’s story, and by playing the Unjust Housing Policy Game, the story of affordable housing in the US for the past 100 years—factors that have caused today’s crisis and what we have learned that works. We will look at what congregations are doing to build affordable housing, the development process, best practices to end homelessness, a practical theology of land use, and advocacy from a Biblical perspective, an overview of polices that work and what it takes to mobilize people of faith to do housing justice.
